Where’s it come from?

Very Fresh - Very Local

Produce Market Spotlight

And the story goes…

January – The Juice is Loose!

Krause Brothers Citrus Co. is a third-generation family-owned business (we can relate) based out of Greenville, SC. They get their oranges from their father’s orange groves in Wauchula FL. All fresh, completely natural orange juice, with no additives or preservatives. Stop on in at Wingard’s Market & pick some up today. We’re the only location selling Krause Bros. in the Midlands!

December –  PEE-cans or pe-CAANS

Our Produce Manager, Mark Balser, is at it again this time gathering pecans by the bulk from our good friends at Golden Kernel down in Cameron SC. Here at Wingard’s we buy nothing but the best produce this beautiful state has to offer. Enjoy!

November – Fraser Fir Christmas Trees

We purchase our trees from Cline Church Nursery, in Fleetwood, NC, a second generation, 40 year family owned grower, that grows 500 acres of Fraser Fir Christmas Trees. The trees in these photos were cut the week of November 6 and we went to select them, pick them up and deliver back to Wingard’s all on Friday, November 17. At that point, we counted them, put a fresh cut on the bottom of the tree to allow it to soak water, put them into our display racks and watered the reservoir, where they will sit until sold. The Fraser Fir Christmas Wreaths were treated with a preservative and placed in a shady spot in front of the Produce Market for sale.

So these trees were grown by one family and sold by another!

October – Pumpkins, A Trip to the Farmer’s Market

Mark, our Produce Manager, is in charge of stocking up our Produce Market with nothing but the freshest local produce South Carolina farmers have to offer. However since South Carolina’s climate is too warm to grow pumpkins, we rely on our good friends at Severt & Sons Produce at the State Farmers Market to get them for us from the cooler Virginia weather. You can see Mark picking out the “cream of the crop” to provide you all with the best Halloween pumpkins this upcoming October!
