Report What You See

Report what you see.

Wings & ThingsBecome a watcher …

Did you know that everyday citizens like us can be amateur scientists?

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology runs citizen scientist programs called eBird and NestWatch that let people report the species of birds that you see in your yard.

  • eBird allows you to log which species you see when you see them, and how many individual birds you saw!  The observations people submit help to provide information to scientists about each bird species they see, determine species distributions across SC, determines population estimates for individual species, and identifies suitable habitat for bird species.
  • NestWatch allows you to report what birds you have nesting in your yard and how many hatchlings successfully “flew the coop.” This program lets people contribute to tracking the current condition of breeding bird populations and it measures how bird populations are affected by different factors like climate change, habitat degradation, habitat loss, expansion of urban areas, and the introduction of non-native plants and animals.
By providing the best bird seed from Cole’s Wild Birdseed of Kennesaw, GA, as well as other quality products, and encouraging local bird conservation, interest in the Great Backyard Bird Count and Neighborhood Nestwatch, customers can expand their knowledge and ability to enjoy nature right at home!
